As the 30th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty, the Omukama of Tooro, approaches, the Tooro Kingdom is gearing up for grand celebrations. Ahead of this momentous occasion, Kansai Plascon Uganda has stepped forward to support the kingdom’s preparations in a significant way. The paint company has generously donated paint to refurbish the Royal Palace, covering over 8,500 square meters of both interior and exterior surfaces.
The handover ceremony, held at the Palace Grounds, was attended by top officials from both Kansai Plascon Uganda and the Tooro Kingdom. Mr. Santosh Gumte, Managing Director of Kansai Plascon Uganda, led the company’s delegation, accompanied by Mr. Daniel Kayongo, Head of Marketing, and Mr. Kato Moses, Head of Sales. The Tooro Kingdom was represented by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Henry Basaliza.
Prime Minister Rwomiire expressed his gratitude to Kansai Plascon for their support, highlighting the impact of their partnership. “Such partnerships create impact and real change. We are grateful to Plascon for this amazing initiative as we prepare for the coronation. This isn’t our first collaboration — Plascon has supported us over the years, including with the Amasaza Cup, which has helped us reach thousands more people,” he said. He officially extended an invitation to the coronation celebrations, promising an amazing experience in the freshly painted and restored palace.
Mr. Gumte reaffirmed Kansai Plascon’s commitment to supporting cultural institutions. “We are proud to be the official paint partner of Tooro Kingdom. This is a long-standing relationship we deeply value — I’ve even been honored with an Empaako, Ateenyi. Supporting educational, cultural, and religious institutions is part of our ESG goals and our way of giving back to the communities that support us,” he said.
The paint donation is a key part of the preparations for the coronation anniversary, which will take place on September 12, 2025. The refurbishment aims to restore the palace’s royal appearance, making it an even more majestic venue for the celebrations.
