ABC Capital Bank Limited has unveiled an ambitious growth strategy centred on digital transformation and the expansion of its retail banking portfolio, following a period of sustained growth and financial performance in which the bank recorded a 285% increase in Profit After Tax (PAT) for the 2025 financial year.

The strong performance marks a significant milestone in the bank’s transformation journey, underscoring the success of a disciplined strategy focused on operational efficiency, sound corporate governance, and customer-centric innovation.

According to the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Chris Kabagambe, ABC Capital Bank has successfully transitioned from a recovery phase into a sustainable growth trajectory, laying a strong foundation for its next strategic cycle.

“This performance is more than a financial milestone. It is evidence that the foundations we have built are strong and that ABC Capital Bank is well positioned for sustainable growth,” said Kabagambe.

He added that the bank’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan is designed to strengthen its market position by expanding access to inclusive financial services, reinforcing its leadership in SME banking, and accelerating digital transformation.

“As we reach mid term of our 2026–2028 strategic cycle, we are focused on strengthening the bank’s market position by expanding access to inclusive financial services, deepening our SME banking leadership, and accelerating digital transformation,” he said.

ABC Capital Bank has built a strong reputation as a trusted financial partner for Uganda’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), a sector widely recognised as the backbone of the country’s economy. The bank intends to build on this strength by broadening its reach into retail and community banking, while continuing to empower entrepreneurs and businesses with tailored financial solutions.

The new strategy places digital transformation at the heart of the bank’s growth agenda. Planned initiatives include scaling up digital lending, introducing mobile deposit capabilities, and rolling out new electronic services to expand financial access, particularly in underserved communities.

“Our ambition is to be a trusted financial partner that empowers our customers to achieve their goals while contributing meaningfully to Uganda’s economic development and financial inclusion agenda,” Kabagambe said. “The future of banking is digital, customer-focused, and inclusive. ABC Capital Bank is committed to leading that future with innovation, integrity, and excellence.”

Beyond digital innovation, the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan reinforces the bank’s commitment to inclusive banking and structured corporate social responsibility initiatives. It will strengthen the bank’s corporate credibility, enhance customer experience through a modern and accessible banking environment, and increase brand visibility across key market segments.

Among the bank’s strategic priorities are market expansion and product diversification, including entry into the retail and community banking segments, expansion of retail lending, and the development of customer-focused financial solutions that promote broader financial inclusion.

The latest announcement builds on the bank’s strong momentum, following increased profitability reported in April 2026 that highlighted the success of its turnaround strategy, anchored on sustained investment in digital transformation, product diversification, and enhanced corporate governance.

With a renewed focus on innovation, accessibility, and sustainable growth, ABC Capital Bank is positioning itself to become one of Uganda’s leading customer-focused financial institutions, delivering inclusive banking solutions that support individuals, businesses, and communities across the country.
