Entebbe Airport Passenger Traffic Jumps by 25,096 in July

International passenger traffic through Entebbe International Airport increased sharply in July 2026, with the airport handling 25,096 more passengers than it did in June, according to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).

UCAA data shows that 156,342 international passengers passed through the airport in July, comprising 86,586 arrivals and 69,756 departures.

The July performance represents a 19.1% increase from the 131,246 international passengers recorded in June, when the airport handled 67,601 arrivals and 63,645 departures.

The aviation regulator attributed the increase partly to the peak travel period between June and August.

“The June to August period is typically a peak period,” UCAA said.

Despite the monthly growth, Entebbe’s international passenger traffic remained below last year’s levels.

The airport handled 70,667 fewer international arrivals and departures in July 2026 compared with July 2025. In June, the deficit stood at 70,514 passengers compared with the same month in 2025.

The July figures therefore point to a recovery from the lower passenger volumes recorded earlier in the year, although traffic has yet to return to the levels seen during the corresponding period last year.

Cargo traffic also improved during the month, with Entebbe handling 4,799 metric tonnes compared with 4,140 metric tonnes in June.

Exports accounted for 3,123 metric tonnes, while imports stood at 1,676 metric tonnes.

The increase in passenger and cargo volumes comes as Entebbe continues to serve as Uganda’s principal gateway for international travel and the movement of goods.
