Finance Trust Bank Partners with IPED to Expand Affordable Financing for Women-Led Businesses

Finance Trust Bank (FTB) has partnered with the Initiative for I&P Entrepreneurs & Development Development (IPED) to expand access to affordable loans for women-led and environmentally responsible businesses across Uganda.

Through a dedicated loan guarantee mechanism provided by IPED, the partnership will reduce collateral requirements and enable more women entrepreneurs to access formal financing under preferential terms. FTB will manage loan appraisal, approval, disbursement, and portfolio oversight, while IPED will validate eligibility criteria, including women-led ownership and green or greening sector compliance.

The facility supports businesses operating in sectors such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, waste management, circular economy, eco-tourism, and other environmentally conscious enterprises.

Key features of the financing include:

  • Average loan size of approximately UGX 93 million
  • Interest rates below 20%
  • Loan tenure of up to 12 months
  • Grace period of up to 6 months
  • Minimum collateral requirement of approximately 50%

The program is open to eligible businesses across Uganda, including those with limited credit history. Applications will be processed in cohorts, with a selection timeline of approximately 4 to 8 weeks.

This partnership reinforces FTB’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment, financial inclusion, and sustainable enterprise growth in Uganda.
