ICSA, KPMG Set Directors’ Conference on AI and Corporate Governance

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) Uganda, in partnership with KPMG Uganda, has announced the 15th Annual Directors and Company Secretaries Conference scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, at Mestil Hotel in Kampala.

The one-day blended conference will bring together business leaders, board members, and governance professionals to discuss emerging corporate challenges, including artificial intelligence (AI), environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, talent management and cybersecurity.

Held under the theme “Corporate Governance: The Bridge to Artificial Intelligence,” the conference will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Launching the conference at KPMG offices in Kampala, ICSA Uganda Chairperson for the East Africa Region, Jane Okot P’Bitek Langoya, said the event will address critical issues facing today’s boards and executives.

She noted that AI and sustainability are now central to corporate decision-making, stressing that strong governance remains the foundation for ethical leadership and sustainable business growth.

KPMG Africa Associate Director Benson Mwesigwa said corporate governance is critical to business survival, citing the 2025 KPMG CEO Outlook Survey, which identifies generative AI, talent, ESG and cybersecurity as the key forces shaping corporate strategy.

Bank of Uganda’s Yedidah Nyakato emphasized that sound governance is essential to fulfilling institutional mandates, especially as emerging technologies reshape the business environment.

The conference will be officiated by Capital Markets Authority Chief Executive Officer Josephine Okui Ossiya, while the keynote address will be delivered by National Social Security Fund Managing Director Patrick Ayota.

An international perspective will be provided by ICSA UK Chief Executive Officer Linda Ford, who will speak on responsible AI governance and global best practices.

Participation fees are Shs250,000 for physical attendance, Shs150,000 for online participation, Shs2.5 million for corporate tables and Shs400,000 for exhibitors.
