Insurance Appeals Tribunal Presents its Annual Report for fy 2024/25 to- Kasaija

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Matia Kasaija, on Thursday received the Insurance Appeals Tribunal Annual Report for the Financial Year 2024/25 at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Kampala.

The report was presented by the Board of the Insurance Appeals Tribunal, chaired by Rita Namakiika Nangono. The Board, appointed by the Minister under Section 136 of the Insurance Act, is mandated to promote transparency, accountability, and confidentiality in Uganda’s insurance sector through the resolution of disputes.

Speaking during the handover, Minister Kasaija commended the Tribunal for the progress made over-the- past financial year.
“I reviewed your annual report and noted the progress achieved during the period under review. Keep it up,” he said.

Kasaija also urged the Board members to deepen their understanding of the insurance sector to enhance their effectiveness in resolving disputes. He emphasized the need for continuous learning and sector-specific studies to strengthen their capacity in handling insurance-related matters.

The event was also attended by the Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Henry Musasizi.

Highlighting the Ministry’s support, Kasaija pledged to address challenges facing the Tribunal in executing its mandate. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to institutions that strengthen governance, accountability, and fair dispute resolution within the insurance sector.

The Insurance Appeals Tribunal plays a pivotal role in ensuring fairness and integrity in the insurance industry, providing a platform for resolving disputes transparently and confidentially, and promoting confidence among insurance consumers and operators alike.
