Kampala Autoshow to showcase latest automotive trends

The fourth edition of the highly anticipated Kampala Auto Show has officially been launched, drawing together over 50 companies from across the automotive value chain in what is set to be the biggest celebration of mobility, innovation, and lifestyle in the region.

The event, which has steadily grown in size and stature since its inception, has become a flagship platform for showcasing the latest in automotive technology, sustainable transport solutions, and the future of mobility in Uganda and beyond.

This year’s show, scheduled for July 12 and 13 at the Kololo Independence Grounds, features more than 150 vehicles from leading local and international manufacturers, offering a wide array of options, from fuel-efficient family cars and heavy-duty commercial vehicles to the latest electric and hybrid models that reflect global trends toward green and smart transportation.

According to organizers, the 2025 edition of the Kampala Auto Show comes at a time when Uganda’s automotive industry is undergoing rapid transformation, shaped by shifting consumer demands, environmental concerns, and technological advancement.

“This event is a barometer for where the industry is headed. It is an opportunity to connect stakeholders, spark innovation, and explore how Uganda can position itself in a global market that is increasingly digital, sustainable, and customer-driven,” said Edgar Birungi, head of marketing, NCBA Bank, the platinum sponsor of this year’s show.

Birungi said the Kampala Auto Show also serves as a critical business platform for manufacturers, dealers, and service providers to engage with customers, build partnerships, and unveil new offerings to an eager market. It features interactive showcases, test drives, financing solutions, and panel discussions with industry experts on the future of automotive technology in Africa.

He said a major highlight of this year’s show is the unveiling of electric vehicle models designed for African road conditions, alongside a showcase of emerging mobility solutions such as smart navigation, car tracking, and fleet management tools.

Now in its fourth edition, the Kampala Auto Show has grown to become a landmark event in the region, offering a comprehensive platform where industry leaders, enthusiasts, and the general public converge to explore the future of mobility.

According to Birungi, the bank’s sponsorship for the Autoshow aims to support vehicle ownership through accessible financing and promote sustainable mobility solutions.

“Supporting the Kampala Auto Show aligns with our commitment to drive innovation and progress across key sectors. As more Ugandans explore vehicle ownership and as the market shifts toward electric mobility, we want to ensure our customers are financially empowered to participate in this change,” he said.

Industry analysts say events like this are instrumental in shaping public perception and policy direction around transportation, especially as Uganda works to modernize its infrastructure and reduce carbon emissions.

Adad Araguha, Head of Asset Financing at NCBA Bank Uganda, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to making vehicle ownership more accessible for all Ugandans. He noted that NCBA is focused on breaking down the financial barriers that often hinder individuals and businesses from acquiring vehicles.

“We understand that access to reliable transportation is a key enabler of personal and economic progress. Therefore, our mission is to empower both individuals and businesses through flexible and affordable financing solutions tailored to meet their unique needs,” Araguha stated.

Allen Ssempa, Strategic Partnerships Lead at Auto Show Kampala, described the 2025 edition as a landmark moment for the event and the industry at large.

“This year’s Auto Show promises to be our biggest and most dynamic yet, with the strong backing of NCBA as our Platinum Sponsor. we are set to deliver an experience that is not only more exciting, but also more inclusive and impactful. We are bringing together key players from across the automotive value chain—automakers, financiers, insurers, parts suppliers, service providers, and enthusiasts—all under one roof,” Ssempa said.

She emphasized that the show is more than a display of cars; it is a platform for dialogue, innovation, and industry growth.

It should be noted that automotive sales in Uganda have risen steadily in recent years, with 2024 alone recording a 12% jump, as consumers show growing interest in fuel-efficient and low-emission models. With global OEMs accelerating development of EVs and hybrid drivetrains, local dealerships are investing in charging stations and service-training programs to support new-energy vehicles.
