The Bank of Uganda has made two key appointments to strengthen its leadership team. Ms. Ann Marget Kasule has been appointed as the Executive Director of Legal Services, a newly expanded position, while Mr. Collin Babirukamu will take on the role of Executive Director of Information Technology.
Mr. Babirukamu, has a proven track record in information technology, with over 10 years of experience in IT management and leadership. He joins the Bank of Uganda from the National Information Technology Authority (NITA), where he served as the Director of government IT Services. In this role, he was responsible for developing and implementing IT strategies, managing IT infrastructure, and ensuring the security and integrity of IT systems. His expertise in IT governance, cybersecurity, and digital transformation will be crucial in driving the bank’s technological advancements. Before joining Nita he worked with the National Social Security Fund as the chief information officer, cloud territory leader at oracle East Africa
The appointments were announced by Dr. Michael Ating-Ego, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, in an internal memo dated January 28. Ms. Kasule’s appointment took effect immediately, while Mr. Babirukamu will start his new role in March, following his formal departure from NITA.
These appointments demonstrate the Bank of Uganda’s commitment to excellence and innovation. As the bank continues to navigate the complexities of the financial landscape, Ms. Kasule and Mr. Babirukamu will play critical roles in driving growth and success.
