Sylvia Elsheikh, the Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Uganda
MTN Uganda is pleased to announce the appointment of Sylvia Elsheikh as its new Chief Marketing Officer, effective July 14, 2025. Elsheikh brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, succeeding Somdev Sen, who has taken on new responsibilities as Chief Digital and Commercial Officer for MTN Rwanda.
Elsheikh expressed her excitement about joining MTN Uganda, saying, “I am thrilled to return to the MTN family and excited to join MTN Uganda, a brand that stands tall for innovation, inclusion, and impact. I look forward to working with the talented team to continue delivering bold, relevant, and customer-focused marketing strategies that resonate with Uganda’s dynamic market.”
With over 18 years of experience in the telecommunications and commercial sectors, Elsheikh has a proven track record of driving growth and innovation. Her most recent role as Chief Marketing Officer at Airtel Zambia saw her consolidate market leadership, achieve a value share of over 60%, and spearhead the rollout of the largest 5G network and LTE TDD Network in Zambia.
MTN Uganda’s CEO, Sylvia Mulinge, welcomed Elsheikh’s appointment, highlighting her extensive regional experience, proven leadership, and passion for customer-centric marketing. “We are confident she will play a key role in sustaining our market leadership and shaping the next phase of our growth,” Mulinge said.
Elsheikh’s background is marked by strategic positions within MTN Sudan, including Chief Marketing Officer, Senior Manager – Segment Pricing & Acquisition, and Value-Added Services (VAS) Manager. Her combined technical and commercial acumen makes her uniquely positioned to drive MTN Uganda’s ambitious growth agenda, accelerate digital adoption, and deepen customer engagement across all segments.
With Elsheikh at the helm, MTN Uganda is poised to continue delivering innovative and customer-focused marketing strategies that drive growth and engagement.
