MTN Uganda Strengthens Community Ties During Ramadhan with Iftar and CSR Initiatives

Kampala, Uganda: MTN Uganda, through its Enterprise Business Unit (EBU), hosted a Ramadhan Iftar dinner for Muslim business leaders at Mestil Hotel & Residences, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to celebrating and supporting the Muslim community during the Holy Month as part of its Ramadhan Kareem with MTN” campaign.

The event brought together leaders from across Uganda’s Muslim business community for prayer, reflection, and fellowship, highlighting MTN Uganda’s dedication to partnerships with enterprises and institutions that drive economic growth in the country.

Speaking at the dinner, Ibrahim Senyonga, General Manager of Enterprise Business at MTN Uganda, emphasized the importance of connection, community, and shared prosperity during Ramadhan.

“Ramadhan Kareem with MTN reflects our commitment to honor and support the Muslim community during this sacred season. As we gather with leaders shaping Uganda’s business landscape, we are reminded that connectivity is not just about technology—it is about enabling growth, strengthening relationships, and building resilient enterprises,” Senyonga said.

He added that through the Enterprise Business Unit, MTN continues to provide tailored telecommunications, ICT solutions, and digital services to businesses ranging from SMEs to large corporations and government institutions, helping them stay competitive and digitally empowered.

As part of the Ramadhan campaign, MTN Uganda introduced special seasonal bundle offers to help customers stay connected affordably. Customers purchasing any voice or data bundle worth UGX 1,000 or more in a day receive 10 free MTN-to-MTN minutes valid from 12:00am to 5:00am the following day, enabling families to connect during Suhoor and other late-night moments of reflection.

Senyonga also noted that MTN is rewarding customers throughout the season with prizes and affordable bundle offers to encourage continuous connectivity.

Beyond digital connectivity, MTN Uganda is actively present in communities during Ramadhan. Through MTN MoMo’s almsgiving initiatives, food hampers are distributed to vulnerable groups across the country, including women road workers and inmates at Luzira Prison. Customers who send or receive money via MTN MoMo International Money Transfer during the month also stand a chance to win a fully sponsored trip to any destination, promoting family connections worldwide during Ramadhan.

The Chief Guest, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority, commended MTN Uganda and Salam TV Uganda for bringing together Muslim business leaders for the Iftar dinner.

She praised MTN for its ongoing support to communities, including vulnerable groups such as hospitals, prisons, and city cleaners, and expressed optimism for continued collaboration between the private sector and city authorities to help Kampala thrive.
