Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) has appointed Ms Olive Birungi Lumonya as Chairperson of its Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2026, following the passing of Mr Francis Onapito Ekomoloit in September 2024.
The company also announced the reconstitution of its board with three new members: Mr Jose Moran, ABInBev Business Unit Southeast Africa President; Mr Nkanyiso Mncwabe, NBL Managing Director; and Mr Emmanuel Njuki, Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs. Together with Finance Director Ms Eunice Muheirwe, the board is now fully constituted to provide strategic oversight.
Lumonya brings over 25 years of leadership experience across the private, public and NGO sectors. She currently serves as Deputy Director General of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), becoming the first woman to hold the position.
Her ties to NBL date back to her early career as the company’s first Brand Manager, where she helped grow flagship products such as Nile Special and Club Pilsener into market leaders. She later served as Head of Marketing and Communications at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and Country Director of SOS Children’s Villages Uganda.
NBL said her appointment reflects her strong track record in strategic leadership and institutional transformation.
