Nurturing Future Leaders: Equity Leaders Program Gathers Momentum

A group of 100 exceptional students has convened at African Bible University in Lubowa for a week-long induction and leadership bootcamp as part of the Equity Leaders Program (ELP). This flagship initiative by Equity Bank aims to cultivate the next generation of African leaders.

Selection Process
The program selects top-performing students from each district with an Equity Bank branch, based on their UACE results. These scholars undergo intensive training, mentorship, and global academic exposure.

Bootcamp Highlights
– Leadership Development: Equipping students with essential soft skills and principles of ethical leadership.
– Mentorship: Guiding students towards a mindset shift from dependency to innovation.
– Global Exposure: Preparing students for academic and professional opportunities worldwide.

Keynote Address
Equity Bank Uganda Managing Director Gift Shoko emphasized the importance of living purposefully and pursuing goals with clarity and determination. He highlighted the bank’s values as the foundation for responsible leadership.

Career Opportunities
Following the bootcamp, scholars will participate in:

– Paid Internship: A 3-6 month internship at Equity Bank branches with a monthly stipend.
– College Counselling Program: A 3-month program preparing students for full scholarships at top global universities.

Regional Integration
The Equity Leaders Program promotes pan-African networking, connecting scholars from Kenya, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. With its launch in Kenya in 1998, the ELP has empowered thousands of students across East and Central Africa.
