Rubis Energy Uganda Has Appointed New Managing Director

William Fillet-Appointed new Managing Director

RUBiS Energy Uganda has appointed William Fillet as its new Managing Director, effective immediately. Fillet succeeds Olivier Gatera, who has taken on a new role within RUBiS Energy East Africa. This appointment marks a new chapter for the company as it aims to accelerate growth and innovation in Uganda’s energy sector.

With over 20 years of experience in the energy industry, Fillet is poised to drive RUBiS Energy Uganda’s expansion, ensuring sustainable business growth and delivering value-driven solutions to customers. “My commitment is to deepen innovation and sustainability within our businesses and in the communities we serve,” Fillet said. “RUBiS’s mission is to be a driving force for progress by providing energy solutions for everyone.” He highlighted the company’s focus on developing more clean energy solutions, including RUBiS ULTRA TEC Advanced fuel Technology, RUBiS Gas, and Castrol lubricants.

Gatera, who oversaw the company’s expansion to over 70 service stations and launched digital products like the Rubis Card and Rubis App, reflected on his time in Uganda. “The resilience and warmth of the Ugandan people have truly humbled me,” he said. Olivier Sabrié, RUBiS Energies CEO for East Africa and Group Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Kenya, thanked Gatera for his service and welcomed Fillet. “Olivier Gatera leaves behind a strong legacy, and we are truly grateful for his dedication,” Sabrié said. “We are equally excited to welcome William Fillet, whose experience and strategic vision make him well-suited to lead RUBiS Energy Uganda into its next phase of innovation and sustainable growth.”

RUBiS entered the Ugandan market in 2019 through the acquisition of assets from two oil companies, Kobil and Delta Petroleum. Since then, the company has rebranded stations, modernized its infrastructure, and expanded its product offerings, establishing itself as a key player in the country’s energy sector.
