Stanbic’s Head Client and Coverage, Samuel Bulenzi hands over mama kits
Apac, Uganda – Apoi Health Centre III in Apac District has received a donation of medical equipment and consumables worth UGX23 million from Stanbic Bank as part of its ongoing October Love Month Corporate Social Investment (CSI) activities.
Reaffirming the bank’s purpose, ‘Uganda is our home, we drive her growth’, Sam Bulenzi, Head of Client and Coverage said, “Today, we are proud to contribute to that with a focused, tangible donation for Apac; ‘a blue gift’ that represents our commitment to maternal health, and well-being of Ugandans,” he said recently.
The items made up of essential medical equipment and other supplies are aimed at enhancing maternal and child healthcare services at the centre. These included three modern delivery beds with accessories, three delivery sets, an examination couch, a digital blood pressure machine, a Secca weighing scale for babies, an examination lamp, a baby warmer, a manual blood pressure machine, and 100 mama kits. Bulenzi said, “This is not merely a donation of equipment. It is a signal of long-term partnership.
Our aim is not only to bolster health facilities today, but to sustain improvements in maternal and child health for years to come.”
He said Stanbic Bank is committed to empowering women, youth, and farmers as drivers of Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

According to the Apoi Health centre in-charge, Geofrey Anyach, the district has 6,029 women of childbearing age with 1,492 unexpected pregnancies and 1,433 unexpected deliveries.
He said, “Okoye Health Centre delivered 531 mothers. And then Yago Health Centre delivered 31. Acholo delivered zero. This is telling us that out of 1,492 women who were pregnant, 531 delivered at the facility. That means most of our mothers are delivering in the community. So, this justifies the reason why Stanbic Bank is here.”
Anyach said, “Our maternity centre, as you can see, is an old structure. I don’t know if the plans still exist. It accommodates only one bed for delivery. And when mothers are many, you can hardly deliver three mothers at the same time. Stanbic Bank, you have come at the right time. You have given us much needed help to serve this community.”
Dr. James Daniel Odongo, the District Health Officer applauded Stanbic’s effort to support maternal healthcare services emphasizing that the support given will impact positively on the productivity of the people.
“I believe this will go a long way in improving the maternal child health indicators in the sub-county and the surrounding areas, and that will impact positively on the productivity of the people of this sub-county and this district, and that will also reduce on the maternal and child mortality rate in this area,” he said.
Other recent interventions by Stanbic Bank in the Lango sub-region include support for Lira General Hospital in 2022, Alebtong Health Centre in 2023, and Okere City in 2024.
Bulenzi said these initiatives demonstrate Stanbic’s mission to extend its impact beyond finance, and focusing on people-centered development. “When we say Lango is our home, we do not merely speak, we act,” he said.
