Uganda has secured a significant funding boost for its agricultural sector, thanks to a USD 350 million investment from the World Bank.

This funding will support the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project, which aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve the livelihoods of farmers in 69 districts across the country ¹.

The project will focus on key areas such as:

– Crop Production: Improving crop yields and resilience to climate change.

– Fisheries and Livestock: Enhancing the productivity and sustainability of fisheries and livestock systems.

– Infrastructure Development: Investing in rural infrastructure, such as irrigation systems and roads, to support agricultural development.

By supporting climate-smart agriculture, the project aims to reduce the vulnerability of Uganda’s agricultural sector to climate change, while also promoting sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction ².

This funding boost is a significant step forward for Uganda’s agricultural sector, and is expected to have a positive impact on the livelihoods of thousands of farmers and rural communities across the country.
