The Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services (UIBFS), in partnership with the Uganda Bankers Association (UBA), officially launched the 2025 Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala with the Bankers’ Run/Walk at the UBA Offices in Muyenga last week. This year’s theme, “Beyond the Finish Line,” emphasizes endurance and determination, reflecting the sector’s demands for innovation and persistence.
The event kicked off with a briefing session, participant registration on the UIBFS Fitness App, and high-energy Zumba exercises. The Chief Walker/Runner flagged off the 3KM, 5KM, and 7KM routes, marking the start of the run/walk. Participants showcased teamwork, endurance, and commitment to wellness as they took to the course in high spirits.
The launch also introduced the 30-Day Fitness Challenge, where participants aim to walk 5,000 steps daily for 30 days to earn a medal and points for their institution. A new sports gala app was unveiled, allowing participants to track their progress and engage with various games throughout the gala.
UIBFS CEO Mrs. Goretti Masadde emphasized the importance of physical health and teamwork, stating, “This gala is not just about competition; it’s a platform for us to connect, celebrate teamwork, and promote wellness.”
UBA Executive Director Mr. Wilbord Owor highlighted the event’s significance for staff well-being, expressing UBA’s commitment to partnering with UIBFS for sustainable event organization.
UIBFS Board Chair Mr. Michael K. Mugabi praised the institute’s innovation and planning, noting, “Today’s run is not only about crossing the line—it’s about pushing ourselves, supporting each other, and embracing wellness as a lifestyle.”
