In a significant move to promote sustainable transportation in Uganda, Spiro, Africa’s largest electric vehicle company, has partnered with Ricky Papa Thompson, co-founder and director of SafeBoda, to drive e-mobility awareness in the country. The partnership aims to increase the adoption of Spiro’s electric motorbike ecosystem among boda boda riders and delivery users nationwide.
The partnership is a powerful step forward in Spiro’s mission to transform urban transport in Africa. By working with Ricky Papa Thompson, Spiro aims to make sustainable mobility accessible and practical for Uganda’s boda boda sector, empowering riders and communities. The partnership will also promote community engagement, with Ricky Papa Thompson using his community leadership and digital influence to support Spiro with on-ground activations and social media amplification.
The adoption of electric motorbikes is expected to have a significant impact on the environment, reducing carbon emissions and promoting a cleaner environment. This move is in line with global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change. By switching to electric motorbikes, boda boda riders will not only reduce their carbon footprint but also enjoy lower operating costs and improved livelihoods.
To make electric motorbikes more accessible to riders, Spiro has slashed prices to 3.8 million Ugandan shillings. This move is expected to increase the adoption of electric motorbikes among boda boda riders, who are a crucial part of Uganda’s transportation sector.
According to Kaushik Burman, CEO of Spiro, “This partnership is a powerful step forward in our mission to transform urban transport in Africa.” Ricky Papa Thompson, on the other hand, expressed his commitment to popularizing electric motorbikes in Uganda, saying, “I am thrilled to partner with Spiro to champion a new era of mobility for Uganda’s boda riders.”
With this partnership, Spiro is poised to drive significant growth in the e-mobility sector, promoting sustainable transportation and empowering communities. The company’s vision is to revolutionize urban transport in Africa by providing clean, affordable, and locally built electric mobility solutions. As the country transitions towards a more sustainable transportation system, initiatives like this partnership are crucial in driving the adoption of electric vehicles and reducing carbon emissions.
