A two-day training workshop has equipped over 450 small business owners in Greater Mukono with modern business management skills, unlocking new growth opportunities for their enterprises. The workshop, part of the MSME Accelerator Program, linked Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to affordable financing options and business development services.
Unlocking Growth Potential
Participants from various sectors, including trade, youth entrepreneurship, agro-processing, ICT, education, and green companies, benefited from the workshop. Ronald Baganda, owner of Treasure Cosmetics Products, said: “I never knew I lacked business knowledge was holding me back. Now, with these skills and access to affordable finance, I’ll effectively manage and grow my enterprise.”
Building Business Capacity
The MSME Accelerator Program, a partnership between Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited and Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises (FSME), aims to accelerate the growth of 2820 MSMEs across different sectors. With support from Argidius Foundation and Opportunity International, the program has already trained over 2000 small-scale business owners across Uganda.
Solutions-Driven Approach
Through interactive sessions, participants shared experiences and found solutions to challenges in production, marketing, and other areas. Johnson Rukara, Programs and Business Development Manager at Opportunity Bank, said: “We work together to build MSMEs’ capacity, addressing their challenges and propelling them to greater heights.”
