Through its Financial Fitness Academy, Liberty Insurance Uganda is helping university students understand that financial security is something they can begin building long before they graduate and enter the workforce.
In a recent engagement with Makerere University Business School Guild leaders, including H.E. Isma Walakira, the Makerere University Business School Guild President and Benon Tumusiime, the Makerere University Business School Guild Speaker, Liberty facilitated a practical conversation on making informed financial decisions and preparing for the future.
The session challenged students to think beyond simply earning money. They were encouraged to see their education as a valuable asset, invest in themselves, explore multiple sources of income and develop responsible saving and spending habits.
For many young people, financial planning can feel like something reserved for later in life when they have a stable job, a bigger income or more responsibilities however the message from the Financial Fitness training is clear and it expounds on the benefits of starting to plan as early as possible for one’s financial journey. Starting small today can create habits that have a lasting impact tomorrow.
Whether it is learning to budget, setting aside savings, investing in personal development or understanding how insurance can protect against unexpected financial setbacks, every step contributes to greater financial resilience.
By engaging the student leaders, Liberty is creating a ripple effect, allowing financial knowledge to reach their peers and the wider Makerere University Business school community. Financial fitness is not about how much money you have today but about understanding what you have, making intentional decisions with it and creating a plan for where you would want to be in the future.
Through the Financial Fitness Academy, Liberty Insurance Uganda continues to equip young people with knowledge they can carry into their careers, businesses, families and communities.
