NHCC Hands Over 13 Acres for New Insurance Training College Campus

The National Housing and Construction Corporation (NHCC) has handed over 13 acres of land in Namugongo-Sonde to the Insurance Training College (ITC) for the development of a new campus designed to serve as a one-stop centre for Uganda’s insurance industry.

The planned campus will feature training rooms, conference facilities, a cafeteria, sports facilities and recreational amenities, expanding the College’s capacity to provide academic and professional training while creating a dedicated space for industry engagement.

ITC Principal Saul Sseremba said the development is intended to go beyond conventional classroom-based training by creating a hub where insurance professionals and organisations can learn, collaborate and build professional networks.

“We are not simply building a campus; we are building a centre where the insurance industry professionals can learn, collaborate, build relationships and network. Our vision is to create a one-stop destination that serves professionals and organisations beyond the traditional classroom,” Sseremba said.

The facility will also be available to insurance companies, brokers, regulators and other industry stakeholders for conferences, workshops, retreats, team-building activities and corporate events.

The investment is expected to strengthen ITC’s role in supporting professional development within the insurance sector while providing additional infrastructure for industry-wide engagement.

Assoc. Prof. Walusimbi Abdul Hafiz, Board Chairperson of ITC, said the acquisition of the land provides a foundation for the College’s long-term expansion plans.

“We have a clear vision for the development of a modern campus that will significantly expand ITC’s footprint and provide the insurance industry with a purpose-built space for education, professional development, and engagement. This is an investment that will continue to deliver value to the sector for years to come,” Walusimbi said.

The new campus in Namugongo-Sonde is therefore expected to broaden ITC’s training capacity while positioning the institution as a central venue for professional education, knowledge sharing and business engagement within Uganda’s insurance industry.
