Pearl Bank has taken its financial literacy campaign to the Teso Run in Soroti, using the community event to encourage participants to develop stronger saving habits and make informed decisions about borrowing and investment.
The bank held a financial literacy session during the run, focusing on practical ways individuals, farmers and entrepreneurs can manage their money and use financial services to improve their livelihoods.
Participants were encouraged to prioritise saving and embrace digital banking services, including Wendi and UnionPay-enabled ATMs, as convenient ways of managing their finances and accessing banking services.
The bank also used the event to highlight financing options aimed at supporting productive activities in the region.
Among the solutions presented was the Large-Scale Commercial Farmers Scheme (LSCF), which offers eligible farmers financing at zero per cent interest. Pearl Bank also highlighted its Grow Loan for women, offered at an interest rate of 9.2 per cent.
The financial literacy session comes at a time when access to affordable credit and knowledge on responsible financial management remain important for farmers and small businesses seeking to expand their activities.
Pearl Bank also introduced participants to its Soroti branch and other branches serving the Eastern Region, encouraging residents to seek financial advice and explore products that match their individual and business needs.
The bank said financial empowerment requires more than access to banking services, noting that people need the knowledge to save consistently, borrow responsibly and invest in opportunities that can generate sustainable income.
Through its participation in the Teso Run, Pearl Bank sought to combine community engagement with financial education, bringing conversations about money management closer to the people.
The bank said the initiative reflects its broader belief that financially empowered individuals and businesses can contribute to stronger communities and economic growth.
“At Pearl Bank, we believe that when you grow, Uganda prospers,” the bank said.
