Pride Bank has been awarded the internationally recognised ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, becoming one of the financial institutions in Uganda to attain the global information security standard as it strengthens protection of customer data and digital banking systems.
The certification confirms that the bank’s Information Security Management System (ISMS) meets internationally accepted requirements for identifying, managing and reducing information security risks following an independent assessment by an accredited certification body.
The milestone comes as banks increasingly rely on digital channels such as mobile banking, internet banking and electronic payments, exposing the financial sector to growing cybersecurity threats. As a result, financial institutions are investing heavily in systems that safeguard customer information and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
Pride Bank said the certification demonstrates its commitment to protecting customer data through robust governance structures, security controls and risk management practices aligned with global standards.
The bank noted that the internationally recognised framework ensures information remains confidential, accurate and accessible only to authorised users whenever required.
“Information security goes beyond defending against cyber threats. It is about ensuring customer information remains confidential, maintains its integrity and is available whenever it is legitimately needed,” the bank said.

According to the bank, the certification reflects years of investment in technology, governance, operational processes and staff capacity, with information security now embedded across its operations and decision-making processes.
The achievement is also expected to strengthen the bank’s corporate governance and compliance with regulatory requirements while enhancing customer confidence in its digital banking services.
Speaking during the certification ceremony, Certi-Trust representative Kamau said obtaining the certification should mark the beginning rather than the end of the bank’s information security journey.
“The business environment continues to evolve, technology changes rapidly and organisations must keep improving their systems. Continuous improvement is what sustains customer confidence,” he said.
Kamau added that Pride Bank will be listed in Certi-Trust’s global certification directory, allowing organisations worldwide to verify its certification status. The bank will also undergo annual surveillance audits to ensure continued compliance with the international standard.
Pride Bank attributed the achievement to the combined efforts of its board, management, employees and implementation partners, saying their collaboration enabled the institution to establish an Information Security Management System that meets global best practice.
The bank said the certification reinforces its commitment to transparency, accountability and operational excellence while assuring customers, regulators, shareholders and business partners that protecting information remains a top priority.
Looking ahead, Pride Bank said it will continue investing in secure digital technologies, strengthening cybersecurity awareness among employees and customers, and adopting international best practices to enhance the safety and reliability of its banking services.
