The Undersecretary and Accounting Officer at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Dr Sengonzi Damulira, has received national recognition for his contribution to strengthening Uganda’s public finance management system.
Dr Sengonzi was named Uganda’s Public Finance Management Champion during the Responsible Investment Global Awards organised by Public Opinions. The awards celebrate individuals whose work has made a lasting impact on the country’s economic and social development.
While presenting the award, Public Opinions Team Leader Adam Buyinza Luzindana commended Dr Sengonzi for his leadership and dedication to improving the management of public finances.
He said Dr Sengonzi has played a key role in promoting accountability, transparency and responsible use of government resources, helping to ensure that public funds are managed efficiently for national development.
Buyinza added that Dr Sengonzi’s efforts have also supported financial inclusion and strengthened public confidence in government financial systems, while contributing to Uganda’s broader economic growth agenda.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr Sengonzi thanked the organisers for the recognition, saying it motivates him to continue serving Ugandans with integrity and commitment.
He pledged to remain focused on strengthening public financial management and ensuring that government resources are used effectively to improve service delivery and support the country’s development priorities.
The recognition highlights Dr Sengonzi’s growing reputation as one of Uganda’s leading public finance professionals, whose work continues to support reforms aimed at improving accountability, fiscal discipline and efficient management of public resources.
