MTN Uganda has appointed seasoned telecommunications executive Ebenezer Twum Asante to its Board of Directors as a non-executive director, effective May 6, 2026.
The appointment was announced in accordance with Rule 36 of the Uganda Securities Exchange Listing Rules 2025.
Asante currently serves as Senior Vice President for the Southern and East Africa, Ghana and Sudan (SEAGHAS) markets at MTN Group, where he oversees operations across multiple African countries.
In a statement issued by Company Secretary Enid Edroma on behalf of the Board, MTN Uganda described Asante as a highly experienced business leader with deep expertise in telecommunications, corporate leadership and market growth across Africa.
He previously held several senior positions within MTN Group, including Vice President for West and Central Africa and later Vice President for Southern and East Africa and Ghana between 2017 and 2020.
Asante also served as Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana and MTN Rwanda, where he led strong operational and financial performance while championing people-centred leadership and sustainable business growth.
Before joining MTN, he worked with Unilever in various international markets, gaining extensive experience in commercial operations, general management and organisational transformation.
He currently sits on several MTN Group subsidiary boards and also holds an external board position.
“The Board is confident that he will be a valuable addition to its membership and will contribute immensely to the Board’s oversight role,” Edroma said.
She added: “The Board is pleased to have Mr Asante join its membership and accordingly welcomes him to the team.”
